Privacy Policy for WheelClick
No personal information is collected by this app. The only data it collects is:
Usage Statistics
WheelClick counts which gestures you use and for how long it runs, and submits an anonymous snapshot shortly after launch and about once a day while running. Alongside those counts it includes your Mac model and macOS version, the app's own version, and its licence status — in the trial, licensed, or neither. Each snapshot is tied to a random install ID generated on your Mac — never your name, email, or anything else that identifies you.
You can turn off submission at any time from the About WheelClick window. Local counting always happens; the toggle only stops the snapshot from leaving your Mac.
Update Checks
The version downloaded from this site keeps itself up to date: about once a day it asks wheelclick.app whether a newer version exists, and installs one when the Mac has been sitting idle. That request carries the version you are running and nothing else — no install ID, no name, no email. We keep one running tally per day per version, so that "how many Macs are still on an old version" has an answer; the tally cannot be traced back to any Mac, and no request log is kept alongside it.
The App Store version does none of this — it is updated by the App Store, and contains no update code at all.
Website Analytics
This website keeps anonymous, aggregate visit statistics — how many people view each page, roughly where they came from, and which install or purchase buttons get clicked. It sets no cookies and records nothing that identifies you: no name, no email, no cross-site tracking, no advertising profiles. Page views and referrers are measured with Vercel Web Analytics; the button clicks are counted in our own database as bare tallies.
